Kathmandu, September 30, 2026 — Chunky Chhetri, Chief Executive Officer of Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company Limited (SALICO), has been elected Vice President of the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC).
Chhetri was elected to the position at the AIRDC General Membership Meeting held on September 28, 2026, at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. Following his election, he will also serve as a member of the AIRDC Executive Board of Trustees.
AIRDC was established to promote cooperation, knowledge and experience sharing among insurers and reinsurers in developing countries and to support the development and expansion of the insurance sector.
Chhetri’s election to the AIRDC leadership is expected to provide Nepal’s insurance industry with greater opportunities for international representation, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The next AIRDC Board of Trustees Meeting is scheduled to be held in Manila, Philippines, on April 6, 2027.
Meanwhile, Chhetri will serve as Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 25th AIRDC Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2028. Under his leadership, coordination and cooperation between Nepal’s insurance sector and AIRDC member countries will be strengthened for the organization of the conference.
As Vice President of AIRDC, Chhetri is also expected to contribute to advancing the association’s objectives and encouraging other insurance and reinsurance companies from Nepal to join the organization.
SALICO has congratulated Chhetri on his election as Vice President of AIRDC and extended its best wishes for a successful tenure.
